Many of my paintings are inspired by photos I take during my travels. My still lifes are almost always painted from life unless they were painted from a reference photo that was acquired during travel. This peony grew during the spring of 2024, and it seemed to coordinate well with the dark pink shade of some rose wine I had just purchased. The oil painting is on 9” x 12” linen board.
